Goals of KUJAWIAK

Fostering social development. To introduce young children into a group setting where cooperation and discipline are encouraged. Participation in performances promotes a sense of accomplishment, and helps children enhance their self-esteem. Group participation develops teamwork and cultivates social skills.

Dance Education. KUJAWIAK is part of the Polish School of Dance. Here children are taught rhythm and coordination, elements of dance technique, as well as elements of Polish regional and national dances. Along the way, children learn about Polish customs, folklore and traditions. Integral parts of this education are performances, where children have the chance to show their abilities and perform in Polish national costume.

Performances. Every year children participate in approximately 15 performances, often taking place in schools, nursing homes and hospitals. There are also performances during the Edmonton Heritage Days, Remembrance Day, Canada Day, and the annual Polish Music and Folk Festival in the Heritage Amphitheatre.
